About Boeschlit

We Make The World Go Round

Boeschlit is a global media powerhouse with a reach on all eight continents. (Yes, including the secret one in the Pacific Ocean.)

Through a massive network of newspapers, magazines, cable stations, and now a podcast, Boeschlit greases the wheels of information so it can glide into your mind like a well-baked strudel.

The History of Boeschlit

1927

The story of Boeschlit began when Fritz Norman Boeschlit arrived in America from Bauwau, Germany in 1924. Because Fritz could speak and write six languages including English, he got a job as a copy editor at the Yellow Tattler newspaper in New York city.

After three years, he made his way west to the state of Wyoming, where he founded the F. N. Boeschlit Publishing Company in the town of Fort Courage in September of 1927. His first product was the town newspaper, The Mountain Yodeler.

1936

F. N. Boeschlit Publishing Company moved into a larger building in Cheyenne, Wyoming and started a second local newspaper, Udder Boeschlit, that served the ranching communities in the area.

During this time period, many people in the United States with German-sounding names began to change the pronunciation of their names. Fritz went from the proper German pronunciation of ‘Besh-lit’ to the current pronunciation of ‘Bōsh-lit’. But after nine years in the publishing business, many Americans had already started to say it that way.

1942

In the summer of 1942, The Rocky Mountain Oyster newspaper started up which served the states of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. The newspaper featured color supplements including war diagrams, advertising inserts, and was occasionally printed in green or blue ink for no apparent reason.

1951

On July 14, 1951 Fritz’s son Morris “Mo” Boeschlit took over Boeschlit Publishing. On the first of August, Boeschlit Magazine was launched.

1961

Boeschlit expanded throughout the west through acquisition of publications or creating their own. The hot medium of choice was the magazine. Every thing had a magazine, from news to duck hunting. Boeschlit never let a trend pass them up, so a dizzying array of magazines were started over the next several years.

A 10 Year anniversary “best of” edition of Boeschlit Magazine was published called Complete Boeschlit.

1967

The magazine Far Out Boeschlit was launched in April of 1967. Sporting psychedelic colors and fresh hip writing, Far Out Boeschlit won the coveted Albert Eyestrain Award for best layout.

1975

July 1975 saw the beginning of Women's Boeschlit Today. Available by subscription and at supermarket checkouts, it gained a large following in a short period of time. WBT filled the gap between home economics and militant feminism.

1985

May 1985 saw the launch of Back to Boeschlit Magazine, a nostalgia publication that looked at previous times in American history without revisionism.

In September of 1985, Boeschlit Publishing changed it’s company name to just Boeschlit, the name we know today, and moved its headquarters to Boston, Massachusetts.

1999

1999 Boeschlit established its foreign headquarters in Berlin, Germany to better address the European market.

2010

On March 17th, 2010, Boeschlit issues a strongly-worded editorial in all publications against the encroaching evil of brussel sprouts.

2021

A podcast is launched called THIS IS BOESCHLIT.
